Taste Test: Adonis Nut Bars

I’m always on the lookout for healthy to-go treats; and when I came across these bars, I just knew I had to try them. The Adonis team promises you healthy, delicious, and natural food; that’s low in both sugar and carbs; dairy, soy and gluten-free and vegan-friendly. A lot of promises, but when they come from people who actually designed the product for themselves; I’m pretty sure I can trust them.

Natural Erythritol?

One of my main concerns before trying these bars was the “natural erythritol” on the ingredients list. An ingredient commonly used in cakes and cookies as a sweetener, but unfortunately, often derived from GMO grown plants. And because most companies nowadays tend to greenwash their products, I was kinda hesitant to try these bars. Luckily, after e-mail contact with the team at Adonis, they were able to confirm to me that they only use organic grown crops for their erythritol. And now that all is well, let’s get to the taste test.Taste Test: Adonis Nut Bars

Vanilla Nut Bar

A crunchy coconut and vanilla nut bar; with added acai barry, a superfood rich in antioxidants.

This bar was the one I was looking forward to the most to trying, but didn’t end up being my favourite. It’s a tasty bar, but the vanilla flavour was less prominent than I would’ve liked. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this bar very much. It was stuffed with nuts, real ones, and not a by-product; as some companies tend to do.Taste Test: Adonis Nut Bars

Ingredients: almonds (41%), coconut (18%), chicory root fibre, sweetener (natural erythritol), cashews (5%), chia seeds (salvia hispanica 4%), natural vanille extract (2%), acai berry powder (1%), coconut oil, emulsifier (natural sunflower lecithin), sea salt.

Pecan Nut Bar

A pecan nut bar, which is not only filled with large crunchy pecan pieces, but also with antioxidant-rich goji berries and cocoa powder.

This bar pleasantly surprised me; I’m not a fan of chocolatey treats, except for the real deal, but this nutbar turned out to be my favourite. It was so crunchy (maybe a bit too much sometimes) and chocolatey; I absolutely loved it! 10/10 would recommend.Taste Test: Adonis Nut Bars

Ingredients: pecan nuts (42%), coconut (19%), chicory root fibre, sweetener (natural erythritol), chia seeds (salvia hispanica, 4%), cocoa powder (3%), water, goji berry powder (1%), coconut oil, emulsifier (natural sunflower lecithin), sea salt.

Turmeric Nut Bar

A turmeric nut bar filled, of course with the superfood turmeric, but also with large crunchy brazil nut pieces and ginger powder.

I didn’t expect to enjoy this bar so much. I do love turmeric, but in combination with brazil nuts and orange, a fruit I don’t really like, I wasn’t sure if I would love this flavour, or better said, if I wouldn’t taste funny. However, this bar turned out to be the perfect combination of a healthy and sweet treat. Loved it!Taste Test: Adonis Nut Bars

 Conclusion

Except for the lack of vanilla flavour in the Vanilla Nut Bar, I truly enjoyed them. They are full of nutritious ingredients that will keep you satisfied throughout the day. You can taste the “health”, so don’t get these when you are looking for a sugary treat 😉 Also, if you don’t like coconut, like me, still give these bars a try; the coconut didn’t bother me at all.

You can buy your own Adonis nut bars on their website, Amazon, Holland & Barrett, Sainbury’s and Planet Organic.
